The artist writes: "I think we all remember at least one birthday party from when we were in the fifth grade, celebrated with our school friends, so young and full of hope. I decided to create a watercolor piece encompassing the nostalgia that comes with growing up. I used bright pink shades to symbolize memory and happiness, and chose to write 'cake' on top of the cake to highlight the irony that comes with growing up so fast but wishing we could have stayed younger in those moments for a little bit longer."
Leena Talha is currently in grade 12 at Karachi Grammar School, residing in Pakistan. She spends her time reading romance novels and watching Sofia Coppola films to satisfy her inner cinephile. She loves designing work for her digital art gallery, CLOUD Magazine, and creating content for her art account lenaswrlldd on Instagram.
