"Pollution is the forerunner of perdition." - John Trapp
If only that phrase were impregnated in every mind of every human being on earth, perhaps today we would not be talking about environmental pollution, or the terrible consequences it has on each of us.
Environmental pollution, the main cause of impending climate change, is a topic that has been discussed for several years now. At the same time, many solutions have been sought to eradicate this problem, but unfortunately, no effective results have been obtained. The question is, why?
From my point of view, the main problem, without a doubt, is indifference. Apparently, we are not aware that we are the main, and almost the unique, cause of climate change. Our actions for and against the environment, small as they may seem, seriously affect our planet, and the consequences affect not only our generation, but also the coming generations, who will suffer even more from the results of our actions. Most people do not provide any solution to save our environment. This means that the situation will get worse and worse, unless people change their thoughts about the environment.
In my opinion, the first step to finding a solution is to be aware of the unhealthy planet we are living in, because this is the main and biggest problem in order to live in a better world. Apparently, many people do not think of pollution as a problem in itself, or are not interested in looking for alternatives to change the situation. It seems that we are too focused on our own interests, probably thinking “that's not my business” and ignoring the fact that if we do not do something to help the environment, the planet will undoubtedly die, and so will we.
Besides people who do not consider pollution to be a problem, there is another group who do consider it a serious problem, but despite this, they do absolutely nothing to change the situation in any way. They are those people who have a hard time putting theory into practice. These types of people are just as guilty as those mentioned above, since it is known that theory without practice is absolutely useless.
As human beings, we must be aware that if we do not take care of our planet, we are headed for imminent destruction. We must leave indifference aside. We have to know that this fight for the environment involves each one of us, that the consequences will come sooner or later, and when they arrive, only regret will remain.
There is no doubt that the earth is a beautiful place, with an immensity of incredible places, amazing landscapes, and animals worthy of being admired. For this reason we should begin to measure how fortunate we are to have all this at our disposal and the many benefits that it offers us.
I think we are still in time to start the change to save our planet. But for this, we must begin by modifying our habits and our customs, and knowing that every action we perform has consequences. Because, if we have started this problem, it is we ourselves who must solve it together, until finally the day comes when we can say: "We have achieved it, the planet is safe."
