The Swallow

Beauty and the SensesPoetry

She came and perched on the window sill

And I, a forlorn soul, got charmed by the magnificence

Her pristine beauty amazed me, I stood still

A divine being showed its benign presence

She chirruped with melody and pride

An ocean of rhythmic divinity

Held her head high, as she sang, dignified

God’s gift, a sweet voice, a symbol of purity

Coated in golden silk, feathers shimmering

Deep hues of ochre, vivid and bright

High up in the skies, a beauty fluttering

A scenic sight yielded, wings emitting golden light

The melancholy vanished instantly,

For a pleasant creature understood my plight

And brought about hope and blissfulness, evidently

Fulfilled her task — healing the depressed — she took flight
